Werribee Market November 2010
Product Information
Once a year the Werribee Craft Market is held over the weekend at the Leisure and Event Centre in Derrimut Road. It showcases to many different crafts from both local artists and those further afield so I decided to give it shot, even though it’s over 30km from where I live. One bonus was that the market’s held indoors so there was no need for an elaborate covered setup, which saved a lot of time and energy.
I offered some of my favourite brooch styles, as well as a new batch of beautiful silks, Japanese cottons and vintage patterns. In addition to the brooches I also introduced a new range of necklaces in gelati and spice colours, just in time for summer.
Two full days gave me time to talk to many people who came by, as well as other stallholders. Young and old and in between came through. Over the course of the weekend I had a lot of positive feedback between sales. The people who purchased loved my handiwork, and I was delighted to know those pieces were warmly appreciated. It’s one of the greatest pleasures in life – to make something with love and have someone share in that feeling.
In all, the market was a great success – costs were covered, profit was made, people left happy and lots of positive feedback was received.
